Remote/Caching Users

The Remote/Caching Users page lists all GroupWise® client users who are accessing the post office from Remote or Caching mailboxes. These could be Windows clients or Cross-Platform clients.

GroupWise User ID

Displays each user's GroupWise user ID if the user authenticated to GroupWise using his or her GroupWise user ID (such as when using the /@u client startup switch).

eDirectory Login Name

Displays each user's fully distinguished Novell® eDirectory™ login name if the user authenticated to GroupWise through eDirectory.

User IP Address

Displays the IP address of each client user's workstation and indicates whether SSL is in use.

Login Time

Displays the date and time when each user logged into GroupWise.

Last Activity Time

Displays the date and time the Remote or Caching client last connected to the post office.

Last Online Duration

Displays the number of seconds the Remote or Caching client was connected to the post office.

Longest Online Duration

Displays the longest connection for the Remote or Caching client during the current POA session.

Access Mode

Caching: Caching mode stores a copy of the user's Online mailbox on the local hard drive. Caching mode users are not connected to the network all the time, which cuts down on network traffic and offers better performance than Online mode. Although incoming messages are received on a periodic basis, outgoing messages are sent immediately, as in Online mode. Users can access their Caching mailboxes even if the POA is not running.

Remote: Remote mode also stores a copy of the user's Online mailbox on the local hard drive. Users retrieve and send messages on a periodic basis with the type of connection they specify (modem, network, or TCP/IP). If users do not want a complete copy of the Online mailbox, they can restrict what is retrieved, such as only new messages or only message subject lines.

GroupWise Client Release

Displays the GroupWise client release and date for each user as displayed in the GroupWise client (Help > About GroupWise).

If you have enabled client version and date checking (Configuration > Enforce Lockout on Older GroupWise Clients) and if any users are running older GroupWise clients, they display in red. If any users are running equivalent or newer GroupWise clients, they display in blue. If you enable lockout enforcement, users currently displayed in red will not be able to access their GroupWise mailboxes again until they update their client software.
