Message Transfer Protocol Settings

Message Transfer Protocol (MTP) is used by the POA and the MTA when they communicate by using a TCP/IP link to transfer messages to and from the post office.

The Message Transfer Protocol Settings page lets you reconfigure the TCP/IP link between the POA and the MTA for the current POA session. Change the MTP settings as needed, then click Submit to put the settings into effect.

The TCP/IP link between the POA and the MTA is established in ConsoleOne® (POA object > GroupWise tab > Network Address page and Tools > GroupWise Utilities > Link Configuration > Edit Post Office Link).

Outbound TCP/IP

Displays the TCP/IP address and port where the POA sends message files to the MTA. The default port is 7100.

Inbound TCP/IP

Displays the TCP/IP address and port where the POA listens to receive message files from the MTA. The default port is 7101.

Maximum File Transfer Send Size

Specify the maximum size in megabytes for message files that the POA can send to the MTA.

If a message file exceeds the maximum allowed size, the sender and the administrator receive a "delivery disallowed" message specifying the size of the rejected message file and the size limitation.

A message file includes all text associated with a message: the message body, the distribution list, and attachments if any. Because message files are compressed, attachments that would exceed the maximum size in their uncompressed state can still be processed successfully.

Restart MTP

Select Restart MTP, then click Submit to restart the message transfer protocol thread.
